A significant police presence, including a SWAT team and numerous armed officers, responded to an incident near the location where England is scheduled to start their World Cup campaign. Arlington Police vehicles were observed along West Division Street in Texas, close to AT&T Stadium where the English team will play against Croatia in two days.
An officer on the scene characterized the situation as “quite serious” due to a suspect brandishing a weapon. Police deployed snipers, an armored BearCat vehicle, and drones to the area, along with a substantial number of officers.
A spokesperson for the Arlington Police Department confirmed that law enforcement was addressing a domestic dispute involving a man and a woman at a residential property. The female resident was barricaded inside the home with others, but no injuries were reported despite a weapon being displayed. The suspect has been apprehended, and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities stated that there is no indication of any connection between the incident and the World Cup, assuring that there was no threat posed to the tournament or its venues.
