“Amazon Delivery Driver Accused of Cat Theft Claims Pet Ownership”

An Amazon delivery driver has been accused of taking a cat belonging to a family, but he claims the cat is actually his own pet. Joshua Gonzalez maintains that the black-and-grey feline is his, and it had gone missing from his home in the same area. He was caught on Brenda Wilson’s doorbell camera in Bakersfield, California, as he retrieved the cat, named Junie.

Joshua, a father, stated that he only retrieved his cat and returned it to its rightful home, emphasizing that he was simply reclaiming what belonged to him. Despite Brenda’s insistence that the cat is her family’s, no criminal charges have been filed against Joshua.

Following the incident, Amazon confirmed that Joshua, who worked for a third-party delivery service, is no longer permitted to deliver packages for the company. They mentioned ongoing cooperation with law enforcement in the investigation.

Joshua has provided documentation indicating that he adopted the cat on October 9, 2025, for his daughter. He identified the cat based on distinct features and defended his actions of reclaiming his pet, stating that the cat is safe, happy, and recognizes him. The case remains open as police continue to investigate the dispute.

An Amazon spokesperson stated that the driver is no longer delivering packages for the company, and they will collaborate with law enforcement for further details on the investigation.
