“Newcastle Man Critically Injured in Alleged Attack”

Two teenagers have been apprehended and a man is in critical condition at the hospital following an alleged severe attack in the heart of Newcastle.

According to Northumbria Police, a man in his 50s was biking along Claremont Road in the city around 5:10 pm yesterday when he was reportedly accosted by two individuals on a moped. One of them pushed the man off his bicycle, causing him to fall to the ground, as reported by Chronicle Live. The man sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening state.

Following the incident, Northumbria Police initiated an inquiry, leading to the arrest of two boys, aged 16 and 14, at Walker Park on suspicion of intending to cause grievous bodily harm. The duo is currently in custody as the police probe continues.

A portion of Claremont Road has been shut down to facilitate investigations, while a section of Walker Park is also inaccessible. Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward and provide information.

Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone present near Claremont Road shortly after 5 pm and those with dash cam footage. Individuals can contact the police through social media direct messages, live chat, or report forms on the Force’s website. Alternatively, those willing to assist investigators can dial 101 and reference number NP-20260611-0838.
