“Teen Charged with Attempted Murder in School Stabbing”

Terrorism authorities are leading the investigation into a school stabbing incident involving a 14-year-old girl who has been arrested. However, officials have clarified that the incident is not currently being treated as a terrorist act. The incident occurred at Co-op Academy in Blackley, north Manchester, where a teacher and two students were stabbed on Tuesday morning. The 14-year-old suspect was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken into custody for suspected assault. After a mental health evaluation, she was released to police custody.

On Thursday evening, Counter Terrorism Policing North West announced that the 14-year-old girl has been charged with three counts of attempted murder. While Greater Manchester Police confirmed that Counter Terrorism Policing is leading the investigation, they emphasized that it is not classified as a terrorist event.

According to Chief Superintendent David Meeney, Counter Terrorism Policing North West has assumed control of the investigation following additional inquiries. The authorities are keeping an open mind regarding the motive behind the attack. The local community has been reassured that there is no current threat, and police presence remains in the area to address any concerns.

One of the injured, Maysum Abdullah, a brave teacher who suffered a neck wound while protecting students during the lockdown, has been identified. His wife, Samia, expressed gratitude for the support received and noted the emotional challenges their family is facing. She thanked colleagues, friends, hospital staff, police, and the community for their kindness and assistance during this difficult time.
