McDonald’s Worker Suffers Severe Burns from Alleged Hot Oil Attack

A worker at a McDonald’s restaurant is currently hospitalized with severe burns following an incident where another employee allegedly threw hot oil on him. Jacob Smith, 20, was on duty at a McDonald’s in Northern California on June 6 when he was reportedly assaulted by a co-worker who fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, as reported by multiple news sources.

The suspected assailant, identified as 23-year-old Jalani Bluett, was apprehended by the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office shortly after midnight. Prior to Bluett’s arrest, the sheriff’s office sought public assistance in locating him due to concerns about his well-being.

During Bluett’s court appearance on the same day, he faced charges of assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, and serious felony assault resulting in significant bodily harm. Meanwhile, Jacob sustained burns to his face, neck, right arm, and back, resulting in second-degree burns covering 22% of his body, according to his mother, Amber Smith.

Amber recounted that her son was about to finish his shift when the attack occurred, causing immense pain that required intensive care. McDonald’s has been contacted for a response to the incident.

A fundraising campaign on GoFundMe has been set up to support Jacob’s recovery journey. In a post shared by Amber, it was revealed that Jacob is scheduled for skin graft surgery soon. Jacob expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received, emphasizing his faith and positivity amidst the challenging circumstances.
