A 13-year-old boy sustained severe injuries when he was bitten on the thigh by a shark while fishing on a boat in the United States. Witnesses reported that the boat was brought ashore with people rushing to help before emergency services arrived in McIntosh County, Georgia.
The incident occurred near Ossabaw Island, approximately 20 miles south of Savannah, on a Wednesday afternoon. The Coast Guard stated that the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Upon reaching the dock, the father desperately sought medical assistance for the teenager. The boy, accompanied by two others and his father, was attacked by a shark that latched onto his thigh during their fishing trip.
A witness, Terry Tatum, described the chaotic scene, mentioning that a boat approached with evident signs of distress. The teenagers on the boat explained that they had caught a large shark, around five or six feet long, which bit the young man’s thigh while they were trying to release it.
McIntosh County EMS volunteer BJ Comer, present at the dock, quickly reacted to assist. She retrieved a tourniquet from her car and, along with a colleague, helped transfer the patient from the boat to the awaiting ambulance for transportation.
