“Woman Dies Saving Dog in Sea Tragedy”

A tragic incident occurred when a woman lost her life while attempting to save her pet dog from the sea in Thornton-Cleveleys. Lancashire Police reported that the woman, in her 60s, and a man encountered difficulties in the water on Saturday evening as they tried to rescue their dog, which was stuck.

Despite receiving treatment at the scene, the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man, also in his 60s, was hospitalized in critical condition. Fortunately, the dog was safely rescued from the sea following the incident near Fleetwood Beach Cafe as per LancsLive.

A police spokesperson mentioned that emergency services were alerted at 8:31 pm about the two individuals rescued by HM Coastguard in Thornton Cleveleys. The woman’s identity is being established, and the man remains in a critical state at the hospital. The authorities confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, and the case will be referred to the coroner.

This tragic event adds to a series of water-related fatalities during the recent hot weather spell, with at least 15 reported deaths.
