A pregnant woman in Washington State, US was compelled to undergo induced labor following a vicious attack by two dogs. Renee Wilson sustained severe injuries while shielding her chihuahua from the aggressive canines. Emergency responders were alerted to the presence of two unleashed dogs shortly after 11 am on Thursday, June 25.
Renee was initially taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition and later transferred to Tacoma General Hospital, where she is currently recuperating from the injuries and infection caused by the assault from the labeled “dangerous dogs.” Despite being a mother of three, she was carrying her infant’s car seat to her car when she noticed the dogs approaching her chihuahua, Katie Girl, prompting her to intervene.
During the confrontation, Renee recounted how the dogs repeatedly bit her, with one of them even pulling her to the ground by her hair. She screamed for help as the attack persisted, drawing the attention of concerned neighbors. Despite feeling scared of the dogs, a man armed with a broom and a woman stepped in to assist Renee.
In a distressing turn of events, Renee pleaded for help as one of the dogs latched onto her belly, revealing her pregnancy. Following the attack, doctors induced labor, leading to the safe delivery of her son, Armani, who was unharmed. While she spent the weekend with her newborn, Renee remains hospitalized until she regains mobility and the infection subsides.
Authorities disclosed that the two dogs, an American pit bull terrier and an American bully, escaped through a damaged fence board that the owners were aware of. The animals were apprehended at the site and are currently under a standard 10-day quarantine at Tacoma Animal Control. Both dogs have been classified as “dangerous” by animal control officers, with the owners given a 10-day window to contest the decision before a judge.
The owners, who cooperated with law enforcement at the scene, are now facing misdemeanor charges for failing to license the dogs and allowing them to roam freely, resulting in fines totaling $2,000. In response to the incident, Renee intends to pursue legal action against the owners of the dogs.
