“Venus Williams Skips Press After Wimbledon Loss”

Venus Williams did not attend the media session after losing in mixed doubles at Wimbledon. The renowned American, a five-time singles champion at the tournament, partnered with Kevin Krawietz as a wildcard entry for the mixed event.

Their match took place on Court 14, with spectators hoping to see the 46-year-old in action. Unfortunately, the wildcard pair lost 6-4, 6-4 to the No. 7 seeds Lloyd Glasspool and Tereza Mihalikova.

Although Venus was expected to speak at a press conference afterward, she did not appear. Reports indicate that the former world No. 1 decided not to attend and did not provide any comments through the WTA or the All England Club. Venus may face a potential fine of up to £37,000 ($50,000) as per the Grand Slam rules.

The regulations stipulate that players must attend post-match media obligations, barring reasonable grounds such as illness or injury. Failure to comply could result in fines, as seen in the case of Serena Williams, who faced criticism for missing press duties after her singles loss due to a knee injury.

Serena’s agent confirmed the injury and stated her exemption from media obligations based on medical advice. The Williams sisters were expected to play doubles together, but Serena’s injury casts doubt on their participation. The match against Camila Osorio and Solana Sierra has been rescheduled for Saturday, subject to timing arrangements.

Tournament officials are hopeful that Serena will recover in time to compete, with flexibility in scheduling to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. Wimbledon 2026 tickets are already available for purchase, including VIP access.
