“Vehicle Crashes into Bowling Alley, Injuring 3 Pedestrians”

Three pedestrians were injured when a vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a bowling alley following a collision in Derby Road, Ilkeston. The incident led to the closure of the road for five hours. The driver, identified as Callum Thompson from Ilkeston, has been charged with various offenses including criminal damage, endangering life, and assault. Thompson, aged 21, is currently in custody and is set to appear at Derby Magistrates’ Court on June 15.

The damage caused by the car crashing through the side of the bowling alley was significant, as shown in images from the scene. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue confirmed their presence at the MFA Bowl in Ilkeston to assist the police, with Derby Road remaining closed for an extended period. The structural integrity of the building was assessed due to the hole left by the collision.

MFA Bowl officials announced the closure of the site following the crash, citing circumstances beyond their control. They expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their swift response and noted that the injured pedestrians suffered only minor injuries. The bowling alley will reopen once permitted, as conveyed in a statement on social media.
