UK Heatwave: Temperatures Soar to 36C, Drop to 4C in Some Regions

Today in the UK, temperatures are set to reach a high of 36C due to the ongoing heatwave, although some regions may soon experience a significant drop to as low as 4C.

The current heatwave, the third one this year, has prompted heat health alerts in England. While the Met Office has not issued any weather warnings yet, people are advised to stay well-hydrated to avoid potential health risks.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the 30s throughout the upcoming week, particularly in the southern regions. However, relief from the intense heat is anticipated soon as cooler conditions are on the horizon.

According to the GFS weather model, some areas in Scotland will experience temperatures as low as 4C on July 19. By midday, temperatures are forecasted to only reach around 14C in the eastern part of England, with most areas across the UK seeing temperatures between 10C and 12C.

Similar weather patterns are expected the following day, with southern areas reaching highs of 15C around midday on July 12.

During this period, temperature anomaly maps show a deep blue shading over the UK, indicating temperatures significantly below the seasonal average.

On July 19, it is projected that 81 counties in the UK will experience temperatures dropping to single digits in the morning.

Peak temperatures for today, as per the Met Office forecast, are expected to hit 36C in the south and 34C in the north, with a chance of thunderstorms later in the day.

The Met Office mentioned the likelihood of showery rain in parts of Scotland today, with the potential for heavy and thundery showers. Thunderstorms may also develop in some areas later in the day.

For tonight, isolated thunderstorms are expected to ease, leading to a mostly fine evening. Scotland may remain cloudy with a few rain spots, while the rest of the UK is set to stay dry and clear, with warm temperatures persisting.

Saturday’s forecast includes showery rain in Scotland, with the rest of the UK likely to experience sunshine, albeit with potential low cloud cover along the eastern coasts of England. The western regions will be hot, while the east will be cooler and breezy.
