Trump Criticizes Netanyahu Over Lebanon Strikes; Tensions Escalate

US President Donald Trump criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a recent phone call, using strong language to demand an end to strikes on Lebanon. A US official disclosed that Trump berated Netanyahu, suggesting that without him, Netanyahu would face consequences and that Israel’s actions were causing widespread disapproval.

Trump asserted that he had mediated to prevent further hostilities in the region, claiming successful discussions with Netanyahu and Hezbollah leaders. He mentioned diverting Israeli troops heading towards Beirut following the productive talks.

France’s foreign minister condemned Israel’s continued presence in Lebanon, emphasizing the unjustifiability of prolonged military operations in Lebanese territory. Meanwhile, clashes between Israel and Hezbollah persisted despite reported agreements to cease fighting.

In another development, ultra-Orthodox protests erupted in Israel against mandatory military conscription, leading to disruptions in transportation and road blockades. The exemption of ultra-Orthodox individuals from military service has sparked discontent among many Israelis, straining Prime Minister Netanyahu’s coalition.

Additionally, tensions escalated as Iran threatened attacks on Israel if further strikes on Beirut occurred. Trump’s engagement with various parties aimed at de-escalation, with efforts to secure peace agreements amid regional unrest. The situation remains volatile with ongoing conflicts and geopolitical maneuvers impacting the Middle East region.
