“Tragic Loss: 13-Year-Old Girl Dies Despite Rescue Efforts”

Members of the public made valiant efforts to rescue a 13-year-old girl who went missing in a river in Yorkshire. Tragically, despite their brave attempts, the teenager passed away at a hospital in Skipton, North Yorkshire after being rescued from the water and airlifted for medical attention. This incident adds to a series of open-water fatalities during the recent heatwave, with the girl being the 17th person to lose their life in open water across the UK.

North Yorkshire Police expressed gratitude towards the individuals who tried to save the girl, extending their condolences to her family during this difficult period. According to a spokesperson from the North Yorkshire Police, emergency services responded to the report of the missing girl at the River Wharfe near Burnsall in the Skipton area around 6:30 pm on Sunday. Despite the collaborative efforts of the public and medical personnel, the girl could not be saved.
