Stepson Seeks Justice for Unsolved Axe Murders

An individual who was acquitted of the double axe murder of a couple found butchered in their Clapham home in 1986 expressed his desire for the real killer to face justice. Brian Price and Susan Tetrault were the victims of the suspected gangland attack. Despite the closure of the case following the acquittal of convicted bank robber Dean Alexander, Brian’s stepson Ray has compiled a detailed report on the case with criminologist Dr. Kirsty Bennett and has presented it to the Metropolitan Police on the 40th anniversary of the unsolved murders.

Ray, a retired fire training consultant, has invested 13 years in investigating the case, including tracking down Alexander, who now operates a counter surveillance company under a different name. Alexander, who denied any involvement in the murders, has declined to meet Ray to discuss the case.

The victims, Brian and Susan, were discovered naked and brutally killed in Susan’s flat, where they resided. Brian, a known drug trafficker, had connections with Alexander, and they were suspected to have been involved in a failed heroin importation scheme from Turkey with a Cypriot gangster. The murders occurred shortly after their return from Cyprus.

Although Alexander admitted being at Susan’s flat on the night of the killings, he claimed to have left to visit his girlfriend but ended up roaming the streets due to not being able to meet her. Despite incriminating evidence found at Alexander’s residence, including Brian’s belongings and cash, a jury acquitted him after a brief trial.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are reviewing the case following new information provided by Brian Price’s family member. The case has been under review since 2023 when the victim’s family first contacted the police. Evidence has been submitted for further forensic examination as part of the ongoing review.
