Sea Drone Explosion Prompts Evacuation at Romania Port

A sea drone believed to be a threat exploded in the main port of Romania situated on the Black Sea coast, resulting in a significant evacuation process.

The incident occurred at the Constanta port at approximately 10:30 am local time. Following the explosion, a massive smoke column emerged in the vicinity, leading to the area being sealed off for safety measures.

This explosion follows a recent event where a Russian drone crashed into a residential building in Galați, Romania, drawing international disapproval, including remarks from Sir Keir Starmer denouncing the breach of NATO airspace.

The green drone, equipped with antennas, was intercepted by water anti-pollution barriers before being found in the yard of the Romanian Agency for Human Life Saving at Sea.

Reportedly, the “sea drone” was located close to the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Life at Sea headquarters in the North Pier area of the Port of Constanta early in the morning. Law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the scene, implementing security protocols and commencing investigations.

According to spokesperson Bogdan Toma from Romania’s Department for Emergency Situations, the device detonated on its own while stationed at dock 78 in the port.

The explosion of a sea drone has been documented at the port of Constanta, the largest coastal and port city in Romania. The incident took place at around 10:30 am local time as reported by local media outlets.

The surrounding region has been cordoned off, and evacuations have been carried out as a precautionary measure.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries resulting from the explosion, confirmed by Bogdan Toma, the spokesperson for Romania’s Department for Emergency Situations.
