Princess Kate is set to attend a significant cancer research event in London alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla later today. Kensington Palace confirmed that the Princess of Wales will be joining the monarch at the royal event in honor of Cancer Research UK at St James’ Palace in London.
The event, organized by King Charles in his role as patron of Cancer Research UK, commemorates the organization’s 125th anniversary. It will bring together senior royals with researchers, clinicians, volunteers, and partners dedicated to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Together, Charles, Camilla, and Kate will explore immersive displays showcasing the charity’s work and visual representations of how technological advancements are revolutionizing cancer research.
Additionally, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will be present, with the duke serving as a joint president of the charity. Both Charles and Kate were diagnosed with undisclosed forms of cancer in 2024, with Kate currently in remission while Charles continues to undergo treatment.
Kate’s cancer diagnosis occurred early in 2024, leading to her undergoing chemotherapy. She announced her remission 16 months ago in January 2025. In February 2026, she shared her recovery journey in a World Cancer Day message, highlighting the emotional challenges and resilience involved in battling the disease.
Since announcing her remission, the Princess of Wales has gradually resumed her royal duties, including her recent solo royal visit to Italy – her first overseas engagement post-cancer. This trip to Reggio Emilia marked a significant milestone in her recovery and commitment to her global initiatives.
Despite ongoing treatment for undisclosed cancer, King Charles has maintained a busy schedule, including a successful state visit to the US last month. Buckingham Palace confirmed positive responses to his medical care, allowing for a reduced frequency of treatments starting in 2026.
Cancer Research UK has been instrumental in improving cancer survival rates in the UK over the past decades, with advancements in research and clinical care contributing to a significant increase in survival rates.
