Princess Kate Faces Anti-Monarchy Protests at Trooping the Colour

The Princess of Wales was captured on video looking at anti-monarchy protesters as they voiced their disapproval of the royal family during the Trooping the Colour parade. Demonstrators from the pressure group Republic made noise along The Mall with their distinctive yellow signs advocating for the end of the monarchy.

Specifically targeting King Charles and Queen Camilla, the protesters directed chants and displayed umbrellas spelling out ‘Stop The Reign’ as the royal procession passed by. Princess Kate, along with her three children, followed closely behind the carriage led by King Charles and Queen Camilla, while Prince William, Prince Edward, and Princess Anne participated in the parade on horseback.

Despite the jeers and anti-royal songs, Princess Kate remained composed, briefly acknowledging the protesters before focusing on her children. The group has been a constant presence at various royal events, aiming to challenge the monarchy’s popularity.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond acknowledged the disruption caused by protesters but emphasized the royal family’s need to carry on with their duties regardless. She noted that while the protesters may affect the royal family’s image, it is essential to engage with supportive fans and disregard the noise generated by dissenters.

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared highlights from the Trooping the Colour event on their Kensington Royal Instagram account, expressing gratitude for the memorable day. Meanwhile, Prince Harry, who was not in London, conveyed a message during the Trooping the Colour event about the Invictus Games, encouraging participants to celebrate their achievements and have a great time.
