Prince Harry has revealed that the 2029 Invictus Games will be held in Daejeon, South Korea, marking the first time the event will take place in Asia. As the founder of the Invictus Games, Harry expressed his excitement about the decision, emphasizing the significance of bringing the Games to a new continent.

In a statement, Harry stated, “We are thrilled to announce Daejeon, South Korea as the host of the 2029 Invictus Games and look forward to collaborating with the Invictus Games Foundation.” This selection of South Korea as the host nation signifies a milestone in expanding the reach of the Games to benefit more wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans through the power of sports and the support of the Invictus community.

The upcoming Games, scheduled from October 6 to 15, 2029, will be centered around the Daejeon Convention Centre in Yuseong-gu. The event is expected to bring together 550 participants from 26 countries, alongside 1,100 family members and friends, engaging in 12 different sports competitions.

The choice of South Korea as the host country signifies a significant step towards ensuring that individuals worldwide can benefit from the transformative impact of sports and the solidarity of the Invictus community.

Established by Prince Harry in London in 2014, the Invictus Games aim to challenge stereotypes around disabilities, promote adaptive sports, and showcase the resilience and determination of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans.

During the recent One Year To Go ceremony in the UK, Prince Harry actively participated in various sports activities, including a game of pickleball with former competitor Dave Henson. The event featured new sports additions for the 2027 Games, emphasizing inclusivity and empowerment through sports activities.
