Mother’s Emotional Plea to “Frankenstein” Killer for Son’s Truth

The mother of a sailor who disappeared almost 40 years ago has made a heartfelt plea to the notorious “Frankenstein” killer, suspected of being involved in her son’s vanishing, imploring him to disclose the truth about what happened to her child.

Margaret Parkes, aged 80, firmly believes that her son, radio operator Simon, fell prey to Allan Grimson, 66, when their ship, HMS Illustrious, was stationed in Gibraltar in December 1986. Despite detectives closing the investigation into Grimson last December due to lack of evidence, Margaret remains convinced that the double murderer was responsible for her son’s disappearance. She continues to seek justice, even though Grimson denies any involvement in Simon’s case.

Directly addressing Grimson, Margaret urged him to reveal the details about Simon’s fate and called for the police to reopen the inquiry. She expressed her frustration at Grimson’s denial and emphasized the family’s relentless pursuit of answers over the past four decades.

Grimson, known as the Frankenstein Killer for his imposing stature and criminal history, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2001 for the murders of two young men who served with Simon on the same ship. Despite his past convictions, Grimson recently faced trial for sexually assaulting multiple individuals, including minors, in the 1990s.

Margaret remains hopeful for closure and resolution through an inquest to finally uncover the truth behind her son’s disappearance. She yearns for a death certificate to bring a sense of closure after enduring years of uncertainty and anguish.

Extensive searches have been conducted in Gibraltar over the years, including at a cemetery and a car park, in connection with Simon’s case. Grimson, however, has consistently denied any involvement in the disappearance.

The road to justice has been arduous, with legal complexities and delays hindering progress. Despite setbacks, Margaret and her family persist in their quest for answers and accountability, refusing to relent until the truth is revealed.
