“Migrant vessel ablaze in English Channel rescue”

A vessel carrying migrants caught fire during an attempt to cross the English Channel, as confirmed by local authorities. The incident, which took place earlier today, prompted a swift response from multiple emergency services and agencies.

French and British ships successfully rescued 157 individuals after the boat ignited, according to authorities. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesperson stated that the fire occurred in the French search and rescue region, with UK vessels and a lifeboat providing assistance.

RNLI spokesperson mentioned that Eastbourne’s all-weather lifeboat was launched at 6 am in response to the incident. As a result, a total of 157 migrants were safely rescued following the boat fire while attempting to navigate the English Channel.

French authorities informed AFP that a small boat caught fire at the border of French and British waters, leading the occupants to jump into the water. The statement also indicated that there have been no reported casualties at this point.
