“McDonald’s Australia Introduces New McSmart Meal Variations”

McDonald’s in Australia is set to adjust the pricing of its popular “cost-of-living” meal, marking the end of its long-standing price commitment. The McSmart Meal, introduced in June 2024, includes a Cheeseburger, Small Fries, Small Soft Drink, and a side option for AUD6.95.

Amid concerns over the country’s high cost of living, speculations arose in April that the McSmart Meal might be removed from the menu after a customer noticed a stipulation indicating availability until June 30, 2026. False information circulated on social media, causing worry among loyal patrons.

Responding to the concerns, McDonald’s Australia clarified that the McSmart Meal will continue to be available on the menu, with only a slight price adjustment starting from July 1, costing an extra dollar. CEO Joe Chiczewski emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to providing value to customers.

The updated offering, priced at AUD7.95, now includes a choice between a Cheeseburger or Chicken ‘n’ Cheese with Small Fries, Small Soft Drink, and a side option such as Chicken McNuggets, Hash Brown, Hot Apple Pie, or Cookies. Additionally, two new variations have been introduced: the “McSmart Plus” and the “McSmart Saver,” providing customers with more choices at different price points.

McDonald’s hopes that the announcement of the meal’s continued presence on the menu will be well received by customers, offering a range of options to cater to various preferences.
