“Man Injured in Greater Manchester Dog Attack”

A man sustained severe injuries in a dog attack in Greater Manchester, initially mistaken for a stabbing by authorities. Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of a stabbing on Ormskirk Road, with an air ambulance landing in an Aldi car park. Subsequent investigations revealed that the incident occurred as a result of a dog attack on Albert Street in the Newtown area. The victim, a man in his 30s, was hospitalized with serious injuries, but his condition has since stabilized.

Four individuals were apprehended in connection with the incident on suspicion of owning a dangerous and uncontrolled dog, comprising three men and one woman. Following their release on bail, the dog involved was euthanized. A police spokesperson clarified that the event on Albert Street in Wigan was, in fact, a dog attack causing significant harm to the victim. The arrests were made on suspicions of owning a dangerous and out of control dog, and all four have been questioned and subsequently bailed. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities indicating that the incident was not deliberate, and the dog has been euthanized. There is no perceived broader risk to public safety related to this occurrence.
