A man was discovered deceased in his vehicle following a response by emergency services to an incident on the M80 in Scotland. Police quickly arrived at the motorway near junction 5 in Cumbernauld after receiving an alert around 6:20 am today.
To manage the situation, a lane was temporarily closed causing potential delays for drivers between junctions five and six heading southbound while emergency teams dealt with the situation.
Authorities have confirmed that the man was found dead in the vehicle and his family has been notified. According to reports from the Daily Record, his passing seems to be linked to a medical condition. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and a formal report will be presented to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated, “We were summoned to the scene near junction 5, close to Cumbernauld at approximately 6:20 am on Monday, May 25, 2026. The man was found deceased in the vehicle, and his family has been informed. No foul play is suspected, and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
