“Man Fatally Attacked with Own Limb in Leeds Trial Drama”

A man was fatally attacked with his own artificial limb before the alleged perpetrator purchased a milkshake, according to court testimony. Dwayne Tuohey, a 55-year-old amputee, was discovered severely injured near some refuse bins close to his residence in Leeds on New Year’s Day in 2026.

Scott Silkstone, aged 51 and without a permanent address, is currently on trial for the murder of Mr. Tuohey at Leeds Crown Court, where he has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Prosecutors claim that Silkstone assaulted Dwayne at his apartment before moving him to an elevator and leaving him partially unclothed on the street while he went to buy a milkshake from a nearby store.

Witnesses heard that when Silkstone was apprehended a few streets away shortly after, he was visibly covered in blood and reportedly stated to officers, “I’ll have more injuries than him.” CCTV footage shown to the jury depicted Silkstone’s movements before and after the incident. The footage captured him entering and exiting the 17-story Shakespeare Grange council high-rise building, where Dwayne resided, and returning with bloodstains on his hands and face.

Prosecutor Michelle Colborne KC presented evidence suggesting that Silkstone was in an agitated state during the events. The prosecution alleges that Silkstone carried out a vicious attack on Dwayne inside the apartment, using various objects to harm him severely. Forensic evidence indicates that the prosthetic leg was extensively bloodstained and bore DNA from both individuals, suggesting it was used as a weapon in the assault.

The court was informed that Dwayne was defenseless during the assault, and jurors were shown images of the crime scene, including blood splatters and items like a shelf, crutch, and the bloodied prosthetic leg. The prosecutor emphasized that Silkstone showed contempt for Dwayne’s condition and continued to exhibit violent behavior for a prolonged period following the initial attack.

After the assault, Silkstone was captured on video striking Dwayne multiple times with no apparent response from the victim. The trial is ongoing as further evidence is being presented.
