Major M11 Collision Causes Lane Closures

Police shut down a part of a major UK motorway after a severe collision occurred this evening. The incident took place on the M11’s northbound lane, specifically between J6 for Epping and J7 for Harlow, involving three cars. Another unrelated incident also led to the closure of the southbound lane, but the M11 is now completely reopened.

National Highways confirmed the full reopening of the road after the collision. However, the M11 southbound remains closed to allow emergency services to operate safely at the site. It has been more than 5 hours since the multi-vehicle collision happened, and the exact time for the road to reopen remains uncertain.

Traffic congestion is expected to persist for some time, as National Highways mentioned in a social media post. The M11 northbound has reopened fully between J6 M25 and J7 Harlow after a previous serious collision, but the southbound lanes are still inaccessible.

Police have allowed trapped traffic to pass through on the hard shoulder and National Highways reported the gradual release of traffic. Additional resources are being directed to turn traffic around at the back of the queue within the closure.

Drivers are advised to follow the designated diversion symbol due to the closure of the southbound lane on the M11 following a serious crash. National Highways has cautioned against entering the area due to ongoing emergency operations without a definite reopening time.

The M11 southbound closure between J7 Harlow and J6 M25 is due to a serious collision, with emergency services currently on site. No estimated time for the reopening has been provided, and drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes if possible.
