Tomorrow, heavy rain is forecasted for many Brits due to a shift in the jet stream. Following a scorching May heatwave with temperatures surpassing 35C in some regions, temperatures have now normalized for this time of year. Thunderstorms and rain have swept across various areas, and although a dry and bright start is expected, it won’t last long.
According to Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern, a new weather system with a strong and south-shifted jet stream will bring low pressure to the UK on Wednesday. Rain will move from Northern Ireland, Wales, and the South West towards central and northern England by the afternoon, extending to central and southern Scotland.
Despite some clearing in the afternoon, showers will return to Northern Ireland, northern and central England, and Wales. Southern areas may see highs of 21C on Wednesday, while northern regions peak at 19C. Similar temperatures are anticipated for the rest of the week.
The BBC weather forecast for the week predicts cloudy and windy conditions on Wednesday with rain moving eastwards, potentially heavy with thunder in the north. Thursday will bring a mix of sunshine and heavy showers, with a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Friday is expected to have sunny spells with showers in the west and north, while Saturday may see mostly cloudy skies with light rain in western regions.
