A leading health specialist has expressed serious worries regarding the health status of US President Donald Trump. Trump, who will reach 80 years of age in June, is scheduled for his third medical assessment at Walter Reed National Military Center in 13 months, as confirmed by the White House. This visit has sparked increased speculation about his well-being.
While it is customary for presidents to visit Walter Reed once a year, Trump made two visits in 2025 alone, initially claiming one was for an MRI, only for it to later be revealed that it was actually a CT scan. The White House has maintained that all of Trump’s visits to the medical center have been reported.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt affirmed last month, “He has never made an undisclosed visit to Walter Reed.” Renowned cardiologist Jonathan Reiner, a professor at The George Washington University Hospital, expressed concerns about the lack of transparency from the White House, particularly regarding the president’s advancing age and possible medical conditions.
Reiner highlighted the visible swelling in Trump’s legs, a result of chronic venous insufficiency, a condition causing blood to pool in the lower legs due to weakened veins. Notably, Trump’s medical report from April 2025 did not mention this condition, leading Reiner to suggest the possibility of acute edema, which could indicate more serious underlying health issues like congestive heart failure.
Reports indicate that there was no mention of Trump’s venous insufficiency in his October medical report. Concerns over Trump’s health have also focused on recurring bruising on his hands, which the White House attributed to frequent handshaking. Reiner remarked on the unusual bruising patterns and highlighted the need for a thorough evaluation to rule out potential health risks.
