“Girl suffers burns from burst toy—warning on microwaving trend”

A mother claims her seven-year-old daughter suffered painful blisters when a “squishy” NeeDoh toy burst on her hands. This incident is part of a concerning trend where children are getting burned by microwaving toys to make them softer. However, the girl’s mother stated that her daughter did not heat the toy and got burnt when the seal broke, leaking liquid onto her hand.

Following the incident, the girl’s mother rushed her to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, Shropshire, seeking medical attention. Despite initial treatment, the girl had to return the next day to have her blisters removed. She is now undergoing daily dressing changes to aid in the healing process.

The mother described the event when her daughter informed her about the incident in the kitchen, expressing concern as the girl complained of pain. After contacting medical services, they were directed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further evaluation and treatment due to the absence of a burns unit in Telford.

The exclusive UK distributor for NeeDoh, Bigjigs Toys, mentioned they were investigating the situation and urged caution due to the presence of counterfeit products in the market. They emphasized the seriousness of the issue and the need to verify the authenticity of the toy involved in the incident.
