“Fatal Collision Involving Police Car Sparks IOPC Inquiry”

A tragic incident occurred last night on the A40 between the Abergwili and PC World roundabouts near Carmarthen in South Wales, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. Reports indicate that multiple vehicles collided with the pedestrian, including a police car that was responding to the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and efforts are underway to identify them and notify their next of kin. Following the incident, the Carmarthen, Whitland, and St Clears Police, part of Dyfed-Powys Police, announced the closure of the A40 stretch between the two roundabouts for an extended period while investigations continue.

In light of the involvement of a police car in the multi-vehicle crash, the Dyfed-Powys Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) for independent oversight. No arrests have been made yet in connection with the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident, especially motorists with dash cam footage from the time of the crash, to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiries. The police have appealed for witnesses to provide any relevant information that could aid in the investigation process.
