“England Fans Thrive in New Jersey World Cup Fanzone”

England supporters are enjoying an unforgettable experience in New Jersey, immersing themselves in the World Cup fanzone atmosphere ahead of the match against Panama. Fans were serenaded by Neil Diamond’s rendition of the Three Lions anthem ‘Sweet Caroline’ as they proudly displayed flags representing various football clubs.

Inside the Yard House Pub within the expansive American Dream fanzone, thirsty England fans indulged in 2.5 pint ales priced at $16 (£12) while belting out terrace anthems and soaking in the electrifying World Cup ambiance alongside supporters from Panama and the United States.

Some fans bid farewell to their World Cup journey, sharing their plans to return home as Thomas Tuchel’s team had already secured a spot in the knockout phase. Others diversified their football experience by attending a thrilling darts match where Luke Littler narrowly lost to Luke Humphries at Madison Square Garden.

Among the passionate fans were Richard Iles, 55, and Andrew Rodgers, 56, dedicated Bristol City supporters who had embarked on a £30,000 adventure to witness all the group stage matches before heading back. Reflecting on their journey, Richard highlighted the high costs but emphasized the joy of being part of the fan experience.

Andrew, who is retired, contrasted their experience with the ease of attending the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, praising the convenience of the venues and transportation system. Despite the substantial expenses of their current trip, which included game tickets, accommodations, and transfers, they found solace in the vibrant football and darts events.

Meanwhile, Wolves enthusiast Braden Webb, 20, shared an amusing encounter with US fans during the Ghana game, where they partook in the American tradition of ‘tailgating’ before the match. Despite sitting among opposing fans, Braden relished the unique experience and marveled at the stadium atmosphere.

Panama fans were optimistic about Carrasquilla’s potential return to the field, highlighting his significant accolade as the first Panamanian to be named Concacaf men’s player of the year in 2024. Known for his skills both on and off the pitch, Carrasquilla, a talented hairdresser, had promised to shave his head if Panama clinches the World Cup title.

Amidst the diverse mix of fans, Tiffany McKenna, 33, shared her excitement about the lively atmosphere, expressing her eagerness to be part of the event despite challenges such as ticket availability. The American Dream shopping complex, transformed into a massive fanzone, catered to fans’ pre-match refreshments and offered a vibrant setting to watch the game.

The stadium, reconfigured to accommodate around 80,000 attendees, promised an exhilarating experience for the anticipated influx of Three Lions supporters from the UK and across the US. Designed as a state-of-the-art replacement for Giants Stadium, it is set to host several matches, including the highly anticipated final showdown.
