The family of a British rugby player has honored him following his recent death. Scot James passed away after an alleged assault while on a family vacation in Turkey, which left him brain dead. The 34-year-old from Maesteg died at The Royal Glamorgan hospital on Sunday, July 26, after being flown back to Wales from Turkey on Friday, July 24.
In a tribute released by the family through the police, Scot was remembered as a beloved individual who played significant roles as a son, grandson, brother, partner, father, uncle, and friend. The family expressed their deep sorrow and highlighted Scot’s warm heart, sense of humor, and ability to bring people together.
Acknowledging the outpouring of support, the family thanked everyone for their kindness during the challenging period and requested privacy as they mourn and cope with the loss. His former rugby club, Maesteg Celtics RFC, also paid tribute to Scot on social media, remembering him as an exceptional player and a cherished friend.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) confirmed their support for Scot’s family and stated that they are in contact with the local authorities regarding the incident in Turkey. The Mirror has reached out to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Turkish Police Foreign Relations Office for further comments.
