“Billionaire Oligarch Among Monaco Blast Victims”

A Ukrainian billionaire oligarch was identified as one of the casualties in the Monaco explosion, according to local sources.

On Monday, June 29, three individuals, all of Ukrainian nationality, sustained injuries in a blast that occurred shortly after 9pm on Rue du Révérend Père Louis Frolla.

The Monaco Matin news outlet named one of the victims as Vadim Ermolaev, a prominent figure in Ukraine’s affluent circles who reportedly left the country following recent conflicts with Russia.

The other injured parties are described as a middle-aged to elderly woman and a teenage boy.

Authorities in Monaco are currently on the lookout for a potential suspect.

According to reports from French media, surveillance footage captured a man depositing a backpack at a residential building’s entrance just before the explosion occurred.

Social media images circulating online depict the suspected individual wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, a bucket hat, and khaki pants.

Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s identity at this time.

The suspect is reportedly still at large but has been tracked via security cameras moving through Monaco and towards Beausoleil.

Law enforcement teams, including the Nice Anti-Crime Squad and emergency responders from Nice and Menton, have been dispatched to reinforce the Beausoleil vicinity.

The Minister of State in Monaco has characterized the incident as a probable attack, suggesting that the explosive device likely contained shrapnel and bolts.

“Authorities are presently collecting evidence,” the Minister stated.

“To the best of my knowledge, this is the first instance of such an event occurring in the Principality.”
