Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as reported by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team.
The individuals involved, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the venue, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm, as per a police news release on Thursday. They have since been released on undertakings. While the specific nightclub was not disclosed, police indicated that it was situated on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
In a statement provided by the team on Thursday, Allen mentioned that he has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home. He emphasized that the assault was unwarranted and expressed his determination to recover from the incident.
