A Jet2 aircraft en route to Spain declared an emergency over the north-west of England. The flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Palma de Mallorca Airport issued a 7700 general emergency alert this morning, as reported by flight tracking data. The emergency signal was activated at 12,875ft while the plane was en route to Spain.
As per data from Flightradar24, the flight, scheduled for 8 am, altered its course near Shrewsbury before redirecting back towards Liverpool. Subsequently, the flight seems to have made an unplanned landing at Manchester Airport according to tracking information from Flightradar24.
A passenger confirmed the safe landing at Manchester Airport, stating that there was a sudden vibration and increased noise upon takeoff, but it did not cause alarm among passengers. The captain informed passengers of an issue about 15 minutes into the flight, maintaining calmness with the assistance of professional stewards. The aircraft landed safely at Manchester airport, with passengers anticipating another flight to resume their journey around 11:25 am.
