Tragic Discovery: Body of Missing 13-Year-Old Found

In the search for a 13-year-old boy who went missing off the East Yorkshire coast, authorities have discovered a body. The incident occurred at Hornsea on Tuesday evening when concerns were raised about the boy’s safety while swimming in the sea near the South Promenade area.

Chief Superintendent Phil Booker of Humberside Police reported that the boy encountered difficulties while in the water. Following the alert, an extensive search and rescue operation involving HM Coastguard, Hornsea Inshore Rescue, and the RNLI was initiated to locate the missing boy. It has been confirmed by the police that the child’s body has been found.

Expressing condolences, Ch Supt Booker stated, “This is an incredibly tragic outcome, and our hearts go out to the boy’s family and friends during this difficult time.” Footage and images from the scene depicted a lifeboat in the water and an HM Coastguard helicopter conducting aerial searches.

To address the increasing drowning crisis in the UK, The Mirror has launched the Save Lives For Sam water safety campaign. Supported by MPs, Olympic champions, water safety organizations, and bereaved families, the campaign advocates for immediate measures to enhance water safety. These include mandatory water safety education in schools, a national awareness drive, improved life-saving equipment at high-risk water areas, the implementation of Sam’s Law, and the appointment of a dedicated Minister for Water Safety.
