Despite battling the rare Alpha-1 Antitrypsin condition, Arran was renowned for conquering large waves in Europe. He represented Great Britain at the ISA World Surfing Games in 2024 and 2025, showcasing his professional surfing skills.
Photographer José Maria Pyrrait, who was part of a paddleboarding marathon with Arran along the Portuguese coast, expressed sorrow on Instagram. Mr. Pyrrait recounted stopping at Arrifana for a break and witnessing Arran’s board drifting before initiating a search with his partner’s assistance.
