Police are currently investigating allegations made by Reform UK against the Green Party leader for supposedly encouraging violence following a controversial image shared on social media. The image, previously removed from Zack Polanski’s account, depicted a man in a black T-shirt with the words “We’re only making plans for Nigel” alongside a guillotine. In response to the backlash, Senior minister Pat McFadden emphasized the importance of responsible behavior by politicians, citing recent tragic events involving former politicians.
McFadden stated on Sky News that considering the tragic murder of Ann Widdecombe, politicians should exercise caution in their online activities. He highlighted the need for all politicians, across party lines, to be mindful of their posts and shares. Nigel Farage, reacting to the image shared by Polanski, expressed concerns about the potential incitement to violence and called for appropriate action.
Reform UK’s representative for home affairs, Zia Yusuf, accused Polanski of “inciting murder” by sharing the image, especially in the aftermath of Widdecombe’s death. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are actively investigating the matter after receiving a report about the image shared on social media.
In response, the Green Party clarified that Polanski disapproved of the T-shirt image, stating that he had unknowingly accepted a tag in a post with multiple images. The party called for kindness and unity in public discourse, urging all participants to avoid actions that may further divide society.
