“Swift Evacuation as Fire Engulfs Welsh School”

Toddlers were swiftly evacuated from a Welsh school during the summer break following a fire incident. The Lots of Tots holiday club children were moved to safety as flames and thick smoke emerged from Awel Y Mor Primary School in Port Talbot on a Wednesday morning.

Staff at a Flying Start group, located within the school, acted promptly to ensure the safe evacuation of the club attendees. The club’s activities were canceled for the remainder of the week due to the fire.

Firefighters from various fire stations collaborated to control the blaze at the school, with operations concluding by around 12:45 pm. The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service reported that crews successfully extinguished the fire using specialized equipment.

The Lots of Tots group announced their closure for the week following the incident. They expressed gratitude to the staff for their efficient evacuation efforts and assured plans for the safe return of children once the damage assessment is complete.
