The woman, who had been teaching English in Vietnam, alleged that she was raped by the man in Hong Kong shortly after arriving there. The man was initially arrested but released due to lack of evidence. Subsequently, the woman was arrested on suspicion of blackmail and charged with demanding money from the man. She was also charged with perverting justice for making a false rape report.
