An 11-year-old girl tragically lost her life in the River Thames after requesting permission from her father to “dip her toes” in the water, according to details shared during an inquest.
The incident occurred on March 31, 2025, at Barge House Causeway in east London, leading to a search operation that ended with the discovery of the girl’s body.
During the inquest at the East London Coroner’s Court, attended by the girl’s family members, the coroner ruled the death as accidental, attributing it to immersion in the river.
The court learned that the girl had been at a birthday party the day prior and had asked her father for permission to stay over at a friend’s house, to which he eventually agreed after initial reluctance.
