A tragic incident unfolded in Bentley, where a teenage boy is suspected of fatally stabbing his mother and causing serious injuries to his 12-year-old sister in a horrific family violence episode. The authorities responded to the scene on Mills Street at approximately 6:15 am, discovering the lifeless body of a 35-year-old woman. The young girl, who had managed to escape, was found 600 meters away along a busy highway in Cannington, where she sought help by contacting the police.
According to WA Police Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo, both the mother and daughter sustained suspected stab wounds. The teenage boy, identified as the son of the deceased female and the brother of the injured girl, was apprehended by the police at a residence in Bentley. Inspector Securo assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community and emphasized that the incident is being treated as a family violence homicide.
The 12-year-old girl is currently undergoing treatment at Perth Children’s Hospital, while investigators are diligently examining any prior interactions the family may have had with the authorities to understand the circumstances leading up to the tragic event. The residence on Mills Street remains a sealed-off crime scene as detectives continue their inquiries by canvassing the neighborhood for information and evidence.
