The UK is bracing for rain as the Met Office issues alerts for 12 regions on Monday following a period of hot weather. Showers are expected in parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, North East England, Yorkshire, the Humber, the East Midlands, and East Anglia. Meteorologist Honor Criswick mentioned that northerly winds will bring rain to the far north of Scotland and possibly the east coast of England. Southern Wales and England are likely to experience the best weather with temperatures reaching 25-26°C. Cloudy conditions and showers are forecasted for eastern Scotland, parts of north-east England, and Northern Ireland. High pressure will dominate the weather pattern, keeping most areas dry with sunny spells and warm temperatures.
Looking ahead, the Met Office’s long-range forecast from July 23 to August 1 suggests dry and sunny weather for much of the UK, with occasional cloudiness and light rain in northern and northwestern regions. Towards the end of July, into the weekend of July 26-27 and the following week, rain is expected in the northern parts of the UK, possibly extending to southern areas but in a lighter and more scattered manner. Confidence in the forecasts decreases for the week starting July 28, although there are indications of high pressure returning, leading to another dry spell, especially in the south. Temperatures are likely to remain around or above average, with the potential for very warm conditions in the south at the beginning of August.
