“US-Iran Conflict Escalates: Strikes Continue in Strait of Hormuz”

The ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran escalated further as both nations engaged in strikes for the seventh consecutive night, targeting infrastructure and military sites in the escalating battle over the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the collapse of an interim ceasefire and any hopes for a peace agreement, the prolonged war that commenced over four months ago shows no signs of a definitive conclusion.

The US Central Command reported that their latest round of strikes on Saturday targeted various strategic locations, including surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities.

Concurrently, Iran issued a ‘zero hour warning’ to the US after announcing that two oil tankers were set ablaze while attempting to navigate the strait. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Navy (IRGC-N) stated that they were monitoring the movements of the US military in the region’s waters.

Iran had effectively closed the strait to shipping traffic since the conflict began on February 28, leading to a surge in oil prices and granting Iran significant negotiation leverage.

Recent US airstrikes, according to Iranian officials, resulted in numerous casualties, with reports of additional injuries and fatalities. Countries like Kuwait and Iraq also reported intercepting Iranian missiles and drones during the escalating tensions.

President Donald Trump addressed the American public, asserting confidence in the progress of the war against Iran and promising imminent positive outcomes. However, he faces pressure to swiftly resolve the conflict to avoid an extended engagement in the Middle East.

Iran confirmed attacks on its power infrastructure during the US airstrikes, prompting a plea from the Energy Ministry for reduced power consumption in regions facing extreme heat. The toll from recent strikes in Iran includes fatalities and injuries, with casualties continuing to rise.

US officials acknowledged more service members injured in the conflict, bringing the total count of casualties among US troops to 14 deaths and 427 wounded since the war’s inception.
