Trump Accuses China of Election Tampering

US President Donald Trump has alleged that China was involved in tampering with the 2020 presidential election to his disadvantage. Speaking during a primetime address on July 16, Trump declared that he would declassify crucial intelligence exposing vulnerabilities in the election system.

Trump stated that the evidence revealed significant risks of hacking, exploitation, and foreign interference in the election process, which had been concealed from the public for years. He specifically accused China of unlawfully accessing data on US voters, including personal details necessary for voter registration and other illicit activities.

Despite voter information being publicly available in most states, Trump emphasized the severity of the situation, claiming that the integrity of free and fair elections is essential for the country’s stability. He has persistently argued that his defeat in the 2020 election to Joe Biden was a result of voter fraud.

Contrary to Trump’s claims, the US intelligence community released a report before his term ended, stating that there was no foreign interference in the 2020 election. The report highlighted the challenges for foreign actors to manipulate the election process undetected, emphasizing the robust security measures in place.

Ultimately, Biden secured victory with 306 electoral votes and 51.3% of the popular vote, while Trump received 232 electoral votes and 46.8% of the popular vote. The Biden administration made the report public in March 2021, refuting Trump’s allegations of widespread election fraud.
