A disturbing incident was captured on camera showing a postal worker in an England jersey kicking a blind shih tzu dog so forcefully that it led to the dog being euthanized. The dog, named Ethel, was kicked after the postman delivered a package at the owner’s residence in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
Owner Eve Lewis witnessed the incident through her Ring doorbell footage. She described how Ethel, an 11-year-old partially blind dog with only one tooth, was kicked into the air like a football and subsequently suffered organ failure, resulting in her death at the vet’s office.
Expressing her shock and grief, Eve recounted how the postman callously kicked Ethel even as he was walking away, causing the defenseless dog to roll on the ground after being kicked like a football. Despite efforts to save Ethel, including attempts to stabilize her blood pressure and address internal bleeding, she ultimately succumbed to brain damage.
Eve shared her devastation over the loss of Ethel, emphasizing the dog’s resilient nature after previous surgeries but acknowledging that this time, Ethel could not recover. The incident has prompted an investigation by Royal Mail, with assurances that appropriate actions will be taken once the investigation is concluded, including covering the veterinary expenses.
Royal Mail expressed deep regret over the distressing event, emphasizing their commitment to animal welfare and employee safety. They acknowledged the seriousness of dog-related incidents for postal workers and pledged to address the matter accordingly.
Thames Valley Police confirmed being notified of the incident, which involved criminal damage and animal welfare issues, leading to the unfortunate death of the victim’s dog. While no arrests have been made, ongoing inquiries and safeguarding measures are in progress regarding the incidents reported in the area.
The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice, with both Royal Mail and law enforcement agencies working to address the situation and prevent such occurrences in the future.
