Tragic Death of Mother Waiting for Medical Appointment

A mother tragically passed away at a medical facility while waiting for an appointment, as revealed in an inquest. Jacqueline Watkins, aged 66, had been experiencing illness at home and sought to see a physician at her local GP practice. Despite being granted an appointment later in the week, she collapsed in the waiting area of the clinic.

Medical personnel at the Llanyravon Surgery in South Wales attempted to revive Ms. Watkins but were unsuccessful. The inquest at Gwent Coroners’ Court disclosed that she was declared dead at the scene. Ms. Watkins, a dog enthusiast residing in Llanyravon, had contacted the surgery earlier in the week and was scheduled for a 3 pm appointment on Thursday, June 18.

During her appointment, she tragically collapsed in a chair, prompting her family to express concerns about potential lapses in her medical care that warrant investigation. Although a post-mortem examination was conducted, the exact cause of death was not determined during the preliminary hearing.

Ms. Watkins’ family raised uncertainties regarding the advice and treatment provided, seeking answers. The area coroner for Gwent announced that a full inquest will take place in March of the following year. Described as a “lovely lady,” Ms. Watkins was remembered fondly in an online tribute. Her daughter, Donna, highlighted her mother’s long-term partner, Keith Berry, and the profound impact of her sudden passing on their family.

The hearing was adjourned to allow for further investigations to be conducted.
