US Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of Donald Trump, has passed away at the age of 71. The Republican representative for South Carolina died suddenly on Saturday, as confirmed by his office. He succumbed to a brief and unexpected illness.
Emergency services rushed to his Capitol Hill residence on Saturday night following reports of a cardiac arrest, as indicated by police scanner audio reported by NBC News. Paramedics, along with police cars and firefighters, were seen at his address.
Having returned from Ukraine on Friday after meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Mr. Graham’s office issued a statement requesting privacy and sharing appreciation for the prayers from his family during this difficult time.
The sad news comes just before his scheduled appearance on NBC News’ Meet The Press on Sunday. Elected to the House three decades ago and to the Senate in 2002, Graham was preparing for re-election this year and was known for his strong support of President Trump.
