Four teenagers have been charged in connection with a serious rape investigation involving a woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted at a residence in Weston-Super-Mare. The suspects, aged 19, 18, and two 17-year-olds, were arrested and charged following a specialized inquiry by Avon and Somerset Police into the incident.
The assault, which reportedly occurred on June 21, involved the woman being threatened and raped at the location where she was allegedly confined during the attack. Tommy Campbell, 19, from Weston-Super-Mare, faces multiple charges including rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment, and assault causing bodily harm.
Similarly, Rio Welling, 18, from Weston-Super-Mare, has been charged with rape and false imprisonment. The two 17-year-olds, whose identities are protected due to their age, have also been charged with various offenses related to the incident.
All four suspects have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at Taunton Magistrates’ Court later today. Detective Inspector Natalie Thatcher emphasized the gravity of the investigation, highlighting the victim’s ongoing support and the need for transparency in the arrest process, addressing any local concerns that may have arisen.
