Eyewitnesses report that the wildfire, believed to be triggered by a fallen power line, is being battled by approximately 150 firefighters in Bedar. The blaze erupted amidst Europe’s struggle with a scorching 40°C heatwave.
A private power line is suspected to have sparked the wildfire in Los Gallardos, with utility companies denying ownership of the line. Initial indications suggest the fire originated from a disused house and restaurant’s power line.
Over 220 soldiers have been mobilized to combat the wildfire in Almeria, with efforts led by the Second Response Battalion #BIEM2. Social media footage vividly demonstrates the wildfire’s rapid spread, resulting in at least 11 fatalities and over 20 individuals reported missing.
