England vs. Mexico WC Clash Kick-off Moved Up

England’s Round of 16 World Cup clash against Mexico has received a boost as the kick-off time is set to be moved up. The Three Lions had a tough time in Mexico City due to the high altitude and chaos outside their hotel. Adjusting the kick-off time to 12 pm local time (7 pm UK time) from the original 6 pm (1 am UK time) should help mitigate the challenges of being 7,200 feet above sea level.

FIFA informed the FA of the schedule change due to anticipated thunderstorms in Mexico City, potentially delaying the match if not rescheduled. The alteration means that England, by delaying their arrival in the capital city, can better cope with the altitude effects at the Azteca stadium.

Human performance expert Steve Magness explained that being at altitude causes a decrease in blood plasma volume, affecting blood flow efficiency. The revised kick-off time, reducing the time spent at altitude, may offer a slight advantage to the England players, although facing the altitude will still be demanding.

England manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged the challenge posed by the high altitude, emphasizing the limited time for adaptation between matches. The team is prepared to face this disadvantage and approach the game with a positive attitude.

Safety regulations stipulate a 30-minute delay in case of lightning strikes within eight miles of the stadium, with FIFA having the authority to reschedule matches for various reasons, including weather concerns.

Players like Morgan Rogers and Marcus Rashford expressed readiness for any changes in the kick-off time, highlighting the team’s resilience and adaptability to challenges. Tuchel anticipates a demanding match in Mexico but remains focused on overcoming obstacles to achieve success.
